Using Microsoft Excel for the State Report

Using Microsoft Excel for the State Report

Does the thought of the CT State Library report fill you with fear? Do you spend days trying to make your statistics add up?  Then sign up for this fun class with Excel-lover Caitlin Augusta and approach your data collection with new confidence. The class will begin with an informal Q&A discussion about the State Report with Tom Newman, State Library Data Coordinator. Then, we'll discuss how to use Excel to track your library's statistics all year long, saving you time and stress. Master basic functions, linked sheets, and simple graphics. A basic understanding of Excel, the State Library report, and a fearless attitude is helpful.

Objectives:

  • To learn Excel functions that make data collection less tedious.
  • To learn conditional formatting and sheet references that will further automate library statistical analysis.
  • To create basic graphs from existing Excel data for in-house reports and community outreach.
