SUMMARY:TIAL: Using Inclusion\, Diversity\, Equity and Accessibility Solutions (IDEAS) to Foster a Welcoming Library with Clayton Copeland
DESCRIPTION:Libraries have an opportunity—and a responsibility—to be 
 welcoming\, inclusive\, and accessible to everyone in their communities. 
 Through principles of universal design and Universal Design for Learning 
 (UDL)\, libraries can create and enhance access and accessibility for all 
 patrons\, including the one in four Americans who are labeled as having 
 disabilities. \n\nThis webinar will provide a framework to bring IDEAS 
 (Inclusion\, Diversity\, Equity\, and Accessibility Solutions) to libraries 
 and to the communities they serve. \n\nUpon successful completion of the 
 webinar\, participants should be able to: \n\n\n	Define and describe 
 foundational concepts and principles related to accessibility and 
 disability and many of the ways these concepts and principles impact 
 libraries\; \n	Apply these principles to begin fostering accessible 
 communication\, programming\, services\, and marketing in their libraries. 
 \n\n\nOnline resources will be provided and there will be opportunities for 
 Q&A and discussion.\n\n**If you would like to submit a question anonymously

 Questionnaire.\n\nPresenter: \n\nDr. Clayton A. Copeland is the director of 
 the Laboratory for Leadership in Equity of Access and Diversity (LLEAD) at 
 the University of South Carolina’s School of Information Science. Much of 
 her research focuses upon equity of access to information for people with 
 disabilities. Copeland also pursues research interests in universal design 
 and Universal Design for Learning\, literacy\, facilities planning\, 
 technology\, and materials and programming for children and young adults. 
 She manages the Linda Lucas Walling Collection for Disabled Children and 
 recently co-authored and edited Disabilities and the Library: Fostering 
 Equity for Patrons and Staff with Differing Abilities. \n\nRecording and 
 Slides:\n\nThe presentation portion of this program is being recorded and 
 will only be shared with registrants. The slides will not be shared. 
 Resources shared will be made available on the Towards Inclusive 
 Accessiblity in Libraries (TIAL) LibGuide. To encourage open discussion\, 
 we will stop the recording ahead of the Q&A and discussion portion at the
