Managing Library Partnerships and Community Engagement (Library Management Series)
Typically, the biggest partnership library managers need to address is the one with the Friends of the Library. Beyond that, there is a veritable buffet of opportunities to choose from. How do you figure out which one will be the most fruitful? For example, how can youth services staff benefit from partnerships within the community? Is there more than partnering with the local elementary school? What is “community engagement?” How can it revive your library?
- Partnerships are not relationships. Learn the difference.
- Identify what opportunities exist within your community. How to find them and how to nurture the relationship.
- Managing organizational culture perspectives. No culture is like that of a library and few organizations “think” like a library. Learn how to massage your culture to best achieve your partnership goals.
